ADVERSARY

ADVERSARY

Adversary
My rouser’s edge
Focusing on you
Dealing with you
Dealing with the adversity you bring
To me…
my loved ones,
my people,
my world…
Adversary
Source of all adversity
You are not my enemy
Without you
I could not relent
Without you
I could not grasp
My rouser’s edge

D, your poem reminds me of what I wrote in my blog called: A map for the journeys we take alone.

Especially the Poem by David Whyte seems to be connected to your poem.

The Statue of Buddha - David Whyte

Your hand moves in the gestures
of welcome, your lips
in the gestures of praise.

You believed
in your own sound, and so,
everything you said is still being spoken.

In that first step away from home,
you came so far and all
alone, faithful to all things as you met them

until finally,
everything bowed to you
and everything spoke to you in its own voice.

You were the child whose first step
encompassed the four directions,
you said, heaven above, earth below,
I, alone and sacred.

Creation means
finding the new world in that first fierce step
with no thought of return.

The path itself
At times ...
A razor's edge
